About the Journal

The Tanzania Veterinary Journal (TVJ) — also known as The Tropical Veterinarian — is the official publication of the Tanzania Veterinary Association (TVA). It is jointly supported by the TVA and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).

Founded in 1979 as the Tanzania Veterinary Bulletin (TVB), the journal adopted its current title, Tanzania Veterinary Journal (TVJ), in 1991, while maintaining its original identity as The Tropical Veterinarian. The journal has continued to publish under the existing volume series, beginning with Volume 11 as a print-only edition.

Since 2007, TVJ has published articles online via African Journals Online (AJOL). From 2020 onwards, articles have also been made available through the TVJ homepage and EBSCO databases, further enhancing global accessibility.
