The Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals (ASPA) is a registered Society No: 00NGO/R1/00393 (under the Non-governmental organisations Act of Tanzania 2002).

The society works to reduce suffering and create meaningful social change for animals by advocating for sensible public policies, educating the public about animal issues and carrying out rabies vaccination campaigns in the Northern part of Tanzania and it operates in the Arusha region.

It is run by an Executive committee and a Chief Executive Officer. The Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals was founded in 1997 to carry out the work outlined in its Mission Statement like improving animal welfare in the following ways: educate adults and children on animal respect, care and good husbandry, rescue stray and badly treated animals, control animal over-populations, carry out rabies vaccination campaigns, uphold the Animal Protection Ordinance (CAP 153), update the current legislation and buying land for the construction of an animal rescue facility and veterinary laboratory;

To reach our mission, ASPA has been seeking launching innovative partnership with animal good will people and companies consisting of funding and volunteer efforts. Our track record of effectiveness has led to meaningful success for animal lovers in and out of Arusha.
